Renault has teased its new Bridger concept, previewing a new subcompact SUV that will rival the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and the likes in the sub-4-metre space. The new Renault Bridger will be made in India, making it an extremely important future offering for the French carmaker, positioned below the Duster in its lineup.
The Renault Bridger concept showcases a boxy silhouette. The stance is tall, the bonnet is squared-off and the wheel arches are pronounced. The rear sports a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate. The design traits make it quintessentially an off-roader styled SUV, borrowing cues from the Defender, G-Wagen, and even the Jimny. Nevertheless, Renault says the new Bridger concept showcases a city SUV designed specifically for families living in cities.
Renault will take off the wraps on the new Bridger concept on March 10, 2026. The upcoming offering is part of the brand’s new ‘FutuREeady’ strategy, which will set the stage for its future portfolio. What’s even more fundamental is that the Bridger will be designed and developed in India, with production to take place at Renault’s manufacturing facility outside of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, for the domestic market and exports.
The upcoming Bridger could carry much of what we saw on the new Duster, in terms of specifications and features. This includes a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor, Google-based infotainment system, ADAS, and more. Will it be able to bridge the gap between the Kiger and Duster? Only time will tell.
