The first successful pole-to-pole driven in an EV has finally concluded. The 10-month long, 30,000 km adventure was completed by Chris and Julie Ramsey, husband and wife. Both of them did so in the compact crossover Nissan Arya.

“I’ve always had full confidence in the amazing capabilities of electric vehicles, and I knew our Nissan Ariya would tackle everything thrown at it,” proudly exclaimed Chris after completing the journey. “Pole to Pole started as just Chris and I, but the expedition team is now made up of thousands of kind, forward-thinking people,” added Julie.

The couple had been planning to undertake the Pole-to-Pole expedition since 2017 after they completed the Mongol Rally in a Nissan LEAF. This was the first time that an EV was used to tackle the 10,000 km long challenge. Naturally, it piqued a lot of attention and curiosity, especially related with regards to the unique charging infrastructure that their participation led to.

Taking confidence from this rising curiosity and attention, both Chris and Julie felt that a Pole-to-Pole expedition would be the ultimate EV adventure, that would not just showcase the application of an EV in tough conditions, but in turn also draw in collaboration and innovation from different partners and in the process offer unique solutions.

As for the Nissan Arya used in the expedition, the compact crossover was factory standard without modifications to its powertrain and battery. Except for the 39-inch BF Goodrich tires modified by polar mobility specialists Arctic Trucks.
