Ampere’s upcoming electric scooter will launch to much fanfare after having already broken two Indian Book of Records.
Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Ampere, is all set to launch its most premium electric offering tomorrow. Slated to be called the ‘NXG’, this upcoming electric scooter has already created quite the storm by traveling the whole length of the country in a ‘K2K’ (Kashmir to Kanyakumari) RIDE, and by breaking two India Book of Records.
Lately, the marque also released a teaser image showcasing the scooter’s new fully digital TFT instrument cluster. Going by the looks of it, the cluster will feature Bluetooth connectivity, and thereby will also have on-board navigation, and call/SMS alerts. Aside from that it will also display other key details like speedometer, tachometer, battery range, and odometer.
Other details that we are already aware of and have been confirmed by Ampere beforehand include — the availability of different ride modes and electric motor set-up.
Reportedly, the Ampere NXG will be available with four ride modes, and the scooter will feature a mid-mounted motor with a belt drive system. Moreover, the manufacturer has already confirmed via a teaser that the battery (the capacity of which is yet to be known) will be placed under the rider, thereby freeing up a lot of underseat storage space, and a roomier footboard as well.
As for its design, the Ampere NXG will most likely usher in a suave and futuristic look. It won’t look radically eye-catching compared to the current crop of electric scooters available today. However, there will be a distinct premium appeal to it. The frame is suspended on telescopic fork and dual-shock absorber while braking duties will be taken care of by a disc brake for the front wheel and a drum brake for the rear wheel. Other highlights will include an LED headlight and tail light, and the apron-mounted indicators will also be LED units.
Pre-bookings for the Ampere NXG have already commenced across India for a token amount of ₹499. Given that this has been pitched as a premium offering, Ampere might price the NXG somewhere between ₹1.50-₹1.55 lakh (ex-showroom). In this price range, the Ampere NXG will compete against the likes of the Ather Rizta, Ola S1 Pro, and the TVS iQube.
