Aprilia Tuareg 457 Spotted On Test At A Rally

After the well-deserved appreciation for its RS 457 sport bike, Aprilia is seeking to expand its 457 cc platform. The Tuono 457 is rumoured to be revealed in its full glory at EICMA 2024 and new footage of an adventure motorcycle suggest the Tuareg 457 isn’t far behind. The bike in question was recently spotted in rally-spec trim, which will reportedly compete in the prestigious Africa Eco Race this December.

The rally variant will boast quite an impressive spec sheet, wherein reports state that it produces 55 bhp at 10,000 rpm from the same 457 cc parallel-twin engine. Coupled with the fact that it will maintain a lightweight dry mass of just 160 kg, this will be quite the agile and fast off-roader, especially with a supposed top speed of 170 kmph. For context, the the RS 457 runs a tune that puts out 47 bhp at 9400 rpm and 43.5 Nm. 

Engineering efficiency is evident in the motorcycle's construction, as it shares key components with its larger sibling, the Tuareg 660. These include the steel frame and aluminium swingarm, though the production version may see modifications for street-legal requirements.

The development of the Tuareg 457 holds particular significance for the Indian market. Considering it will be manufactured locally, at Piaggio’s plant in  Baramati,  we can expect Aprilia to maintain competitive pricing for the Tuareg 457 as well.. 

When launched, the Aprilia Tuareg 457 will enter a competitive segment alongside the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the upcoming new-generation KTM 390 Adventure R. Expect a sub-₹5 lakh pricing for the Italian adventure tourer with a likely launch towards the end of 2025 or early 2026.
