Ashok Leyland on Thursday added twin-fuel variants of its Dost and Dost+ XL light commercial vehicles (LCVs) to its lineup, combining CNG and petrol capability in a move aimed at operators seeking lower running costs without sacrificing range or reliability. The vehicles were unveiled in Delhi by Amandeep Singh, President for LCV, IO, Defence and Power Solutions, and Viplav Shah, Head of LCV Business.
The new models use bio-fuel technology that allows drivers to switch between CNG and petrol, with CNG serving as the primary fuel for day-to-day economy and reduced emissions, and petrol available as a backup for areas where CNG infrastructure remains limited.
"The launch of our TWIN FUEL DOST and DOST+ XL is a significant step in our journey towards sustainable and customer-focused innovation. These vehicles empower operators to drive in the cleaner and greener CNG mode and switch to Petrol as a backup fuel when required, ensuring overall lower operating costs and reduced emissions. We believe this will set new benchmarks in the LCV segment and reinforce our leadership in providing future-ready mobility solutions," Amandeep Singh, President – LCV, IO, Defence & Power Solutions, Ashok Leyland, said in a statement.
The twin-fuel Dost offers a payload capacity of 1,218 kg and a combined range of around 400 km, drawing from a 120-litre CNG tank supplemented by a 5-litre petrol reserve. The Dost+ XL twin-fuel variant steps up with a 1,410 kg payload, a larger 148-litre CNG tank and a total range of up to 500 km.
The Dost twin-fuel starts at Rs 8.20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Dost+ XL twin-fuel variant is priced from Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning both as cost-effective options for small businesses and fleet operators.
