Electric scooter manufacturer Ather Energy has registered growth in Madhya Pradesh, which the company identifies as part of its growth trajectory in Middle India. The region, which includes Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, has shown an increase in market share for the manufacturer.
Tarun Mehta, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer at Ather Energy, stated that the company's focus on Middle India has produced results. "Our strategic focus on Middle India has delivered results, with several states scaling up rapidly," Mehta said. The company has termed Middle India as its growth region in the country.
The manufacturer reported that its market share in Middle India reached 14.6 per cent in the second quarter of the financial year 2026, which represents an increase from 8.8 per cent in the same period of the previous year. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra have contributed to this growth, according to company data.
In South India, Ather Energy maintains the number one position by market share. The company holds a 25 per cent market share in the region in the second quarter of financial year 2026, which marks an increase from 19.1 per cent in the corresponding period of the year before. The manufacturer has held this position for six quarters.
Mehta stated that the company continues to hold leadership in the south. "In the South, we continue to lead the market and are seeing a new growth story driven by a denser retail presence across key cities," he said.
The manufacturer has plans to expand its retail network to 700 Experience Centres across India by the end of financial year 2026. The company currently operates 524 retail centres nationwide. This expansion includes stores in Middle and North India, with locations in cities including Jabalpur and Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh.
Ather Energy unveiled its EL platform in August 2025, which the company describes as a vehicle architecture for scooters. The platform features a chassis, powertrain, and electronics stack. Mehta stated that the platform will enable the company to develop scooters at scale.
The first scooter based on the EL platform will launch during the festive season in 2026. The platform will allow the company to produce scooters for different segments, including family and commuter categories. The manufacturer stated that the platform reduces assembly time by 15 per cent.
The company reported that the platform will support battery packs ranging from 2 kilowatt-hour to 5 kilowatt-hour. Products based on the EL platform will be manufactured at the company's facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra.
The manufacturer delivered 65,595 units in the second quarter of financial year 2026, which represents a 67 per cent increase from the same period in the previous year. The company holds a 17.4 per cent market share in India's electric two-wheeler segment.
