Ather has launched its latest offering, the Rizta, an electric scooter designed with families in mind. With a starting price of ₹ 1.10 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom Bengaluru) and reaching ₹ 1.44 lakh for the top Z 3.7 kWh variant, the Rizta enters a crowded market. Let's see what else you could get for nearly a lakh and a half rupees.

2

Ola S1 Pro

The Ola S1 Pro stands out as a top contender in the electric scooter market, priced competitively at ₹1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). It has an impressive IDC range of 195 km, thanks to its large 4 kWh battery pack. With a powerful 11 kW peak motor, the S1 Pro delivers exhilarating acceleration and a top speed of 120 kmph. While the feature list is extensive, including navigation, music, notification display via Bluetooth connectivity, and more, some features like the ‘Party Mode’ might be considered less practical. The riding experience is enhanced with three rider modes, each tuned to suit different situations.

TVS iQube S

The TVS iQube S is a family-friendly electric scooter priced nearly on par with the Rizta Z 3.7kWh at around ₹1.46 lakh (ex-showroom). And even the design of the Rizta is fairly similar to the TVS e-scooter. The iQube offers a real-world range of 100 km on a single charge thanks to its 3.4 kWh battery pack. With a peak motor power of 4.4 kW, it can reach a top speed of 78 kmph. It features two riding modes: Eco for efficiency and Power for a bit more oomph for your commutes The lower seat height of 770 mm aids in better rider accessibility. Additionally, the iQube has a relatively faster charging time of 4.3 hours, when compared to the Rizta.

Vespa VXL 150

The Vespa VXL 150 has a classic Italian design with a starting price of ₹ 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom). This premium scooter prioritises style, offering a timeless look with a 149.5cc engine that produces 10.64 bhp and 11.26 Nm. The Vespa VXL 150's key strengths lie in its attractive, traditional design and a variety of colours to choose from. However, keep in mind that the under-seat storage is limited, and the focus on design means it prioritises aesthetics over outright functionality. With a seat height of 770 mm, it might be a consideration for shorter riders.

Yamaha Aerox 155

The Yamaha Aerox 155 caters to riders seeking a performance-driven scooter experience, starting at ₹1.48 lakh (ex-showroom). This sporty offering has a liquid-cooled 155cc engine that churns out 14 bhp and 13.9 Nm, ideal for thrill seeker It features a stepped seat layout, which, combined with the 790mm seat height, might feel less comfortable for everyday commutes compared to flat floorboard scooters. The Aerox has 24 litres of under-seat storage. It is big and can take a full face helmet but the Ather Rizta tops it up with 34 litres on offer with quirky intuitive accessories for carrying stuff. The Yamaha Aerox 155 is a compelling option for riders who prioritise performance and a sporty aesthetic over pure practicality and everyday usability.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V

The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V's price of ₹1.37 lakh (ex-showroom) places it quite close to the Ather Rizta. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V has a 159.7cc 4-valve engine that generates a healthy 17.31 bhp and 14.73 Nm, which not only provides a thrilling ride that Apaches are known for but also proves to be very frugal in every riding scenario. It prioritises rider comfort with its 800mm seat height, making it approachable for riders of varying builds. It has got a single piece seat which is one of the comfiest seats for a pillion. This being said it does not have a comfort and width for a scooter seat. The Special Edition of the Apache takes things a step further with the inclusion of TVS's SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity system and span-adjustable levers.
