The Audi A2 is being resurrected, but this time as an all-electric compact model.
Audi has announced key details of the upcoming A2 e-tron, and the company claims that it’s the most energy-efficient Audi to date. The car’s full unveiling is scheduled for autumn 2026.
Under preliminary WLTP measurements, the A2 e-tron, equipped with a 140 kW electric powertrain and the optional efficiency package, achieved an energy consumption figure of 12.8 kWh per 100 km (translating to 7.81 km per kWh).
The vehicle achieves its efficiency gains through aerodynamic optimisation, an updated powertrain, and a purpose-built battery thermal management system. The A2 e-tron features a drag coefficient of 0.24, making it the most aerodynamic model in Audi's compact lineup.

Specific aerodynamic tech like air curtain channels, wheel arch gap reducers, a rounded front section, and tapered rear end reduce energy consumption by up to 0.9 kWh per 100 km compared to an identical model lacking these modifications.
The powertrain integrates silicon carbide semiconductors within the power electronics, cutting switching losses under partial loads by up to 33%. The electric motor utilises 0.2 mm laminations to reduce iron losses, while a gear ratio of 10.2:1 reduces overall motor speeds during highway cruising.

Energy storage is handled by a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which attains a wallbox charging efficiency of 89.6 percent via a dedicated cooling strategy. The platform also supports bidirectional charging, incorporating Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Home functionality.
Gernot Döllner, CEO of Audi AG, noted that the A2 e-tron continues the efficiency-focused philosophy established by the original A2 in the late 1990s while applying those principles to modern electric mobility.
