The SUV category saw a remarkable 24 per cent growth, reaching 35,171 units.
Mahindra & Mahindra reported a commendable performance in December 2023, with overall auto sales reaching 60,188 vehicles, reflecting a 6 per cent growth, including exports. In the Utility Vehicles segment, Mahindra witnessed significant success, selling 35,171 vehicles in the domestic market, marking a robust 24 per cent growth. The total sales in this category, including exports, stood at 36,349 vehicles. On the commercial front, the company achieved domestic sales of 17,888 Commercial Vehicles, showcasing a diversified portfolio.
Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said, “In December, we sold a total of 35,171 SUVs, a healthy growth of 24% over last year. We continued to face some supply challenges on select parts. We are working closely with our suppliers to mitigate these challenges going forward.”

In the Passenger Vehicles Sales Summary for December 2023, the Utility Vehicles category saw a remarkable 24 per cent growth, reaching 35,171 units. However, the Cars + Vans sub-segment experienced a sharp decline of 97 per cent, contributing only 3 units. The overall Passenger Vehicles sales, combining both segments, witnessed a positive growth of 24 per cent, totalling 35,174 units.
Moving to the Commercial Vehicles and 3 Wheelers Sales Summary for December, the LCV < 2T category recorded a slight decrease of 6 per cent, with 2,849 units sold. The LCV 2 T – 3.5 T category experienced a notable drop of 22 per cent, reaching 12,668 units. On the positive side, the LCV > 3.5T + MHCV category exhibited substantial growth, recording a 170 per cent increase with 2,371 units.
The 3 Wheelers category, including electric 3Ws, saw a modest 5 per cent growth, reaching 5,307 units. In terms of exports in December 2023, Mahindra faced a decline of 41 per cent, with total exports amounting to 1,819 units.
