Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) seems to have struck a chord with the Indian masses. The Indian arm of the Japanese manufacturer announced that it retailed 28,414 cars last month, which is a 13 per cent year-on-year growth compared to the 25,220 units it retailed in the same month, last year. In the domestic market alone, Toyota retailed 26,414 units, out of which 68 per cent of the sales were driven by models such as the Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Hilux, Fortuner, Legender, and Rumion. Meanwhile, small car models in the brand’s portfolio, including Taisor and Glanza, contributed 28 percent of the monthly sales.
In the first 11 months of FY 2024-25, TKM’s sales grew by a healthy 30 per cent. During this period, the brand cumulatively sold 3,06,105 units, compared to 2,36,332 units it sold in the same period last financial year.
Toyota's new introductions in the past few months, including the 9th-gen Camry and Land Cruiser 300, have also been off to a pretty encouraging start. “The market response has been positive, and we are humbled by the enthusiasm,” commented Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of the Sales-Service-Used Car Business.
