The largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country is registering key growth in the scooter segment

Hero MotoCorp kicked off 2026 in style as the company dispatched 5,57,871 units during the month, registering an impressive 26 per cent growth compared to 4,42,873 units in January 2025. Retail momentum also remained healthy, with 4,91,986 VAHAN registrations recorded in January (excluding Telangana data as of February 1, 2026), indicating strong customer demand across markets.

The growth in January was led by Hero’s expanding scooter portfolio, particularly the Xoom and Destini, which continue to witness rising consumer interest. The motorcycle range also performed strongly, with the Xtreme and Glamour X contributing significantly to overall volumes. Hero MotoCorp sold 4,95,889 motorcycles and 61,982 scooters during the month. Scooters have been historically the weak link of the brand and the revival in scooter sales is positive news for Hero MotoCorp as the scooter market has been booming over the past few years.

Hero’s emerging mobility brand VIDA also posted encouraging growth. VIDA recorded 13,000 VAHAN registrations in January, reflecting a 21 per cent month-on-month increase over the previous month. The new Vida VX2 has been a game changer product for the brand’s EV business and it currently is the 4th highest-selling electric scooter in our country behind the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and the Ather Rizta.

Hero MotoCorp’s global business maintained double-digit growth, with exports rising 24 per cent year-on-year. The company shipped 37,663 units overseas in January 2026. The company will be focusing on its scooter business as its products gain more traction thereby driving sales, while VIDA sales have been improving at record pace and it can dislodge Ather from the no.3 position in the coming months.
