Overall growth was led by healthy volumes in exports, while domestic sales in core segments remained soft.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), India's largest automotive manufacturer, sold a total of 180,526 units in July 2025, achieving a modest 3.1 per cent year-on-year growth over the 175,041 units sold in July 2024. Overall growth was led by healthy volumes in exports, while domestic sales in core segments remained soft.

The standout metric for Maruti Suzuki this July was its export performance. The company shipped 31,745 units, marking a 32.4 per cent jump from 23,985 units in July 2024. This momentum in exports reflects Maruti Suzuki’s aggressive push in Africa, Latin America, and ASEAN countries, with models such as the Baleno, Dzire, and Fronx gaining significant traction. Year-to-date (April–July 2025) export volumes also surged by 36% per cent rising to 128,717 units from 94,545 units during the same period in FY24.
Maruti Suzuki’s total domestic sales, including those of passenger vehicles (PV), light commercial vehicles (LCVs), and OEM supply, stood at 148,781 units, compared to 151,056 units in July 2024, a marginal 1.5 per cent decline. Within this:

Sales in the entry-level segment (Alto and S-Presso) declined 31 per cent YoY, with 6,822 units sold as against 9,960 units in July 2024. This is an extension of a multi-quarter trend, as entry-level hatchbacks become less popular while demand for compact SUVs and better-specified small cars rises.
In the first four months of FY26, entry-level car sales fell 35 per cent to 26,344 units, reflecting a structural transition in consumer behaviour towards higher-end entry-level products.

The hatchback segment (Baleno, Swift, WagonR, Dzire, Ignis, and Celerio) recorded 12 per cent YoY growth, reaching 65,667 units in July 2025 from 58,682. This segment remains the brand's volume pillar, and is steadily gaining from updates and the recovery of demand in urban markets. Cumulative FY26 compact segment sales were at 242,937 units, down marginally from 247,890 in FY25, reflecting a plateauing trend.
Maruti’s Utility Vehicle (UV) category, comprising the Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny, XL6, Ertiga, Fronx, and Invicto, recorded a 7 per cent YoY decline, slipping to 52,773 units in July from 56,302 units last year. This can be attributed to increasing competition in the subcompact and compact SUV segments, as well as a temporary slowdown in Ertiga and XL6 fleet orders.

Even with new additions such as the Fronx and Invicto, and increased popularity of the Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid, the segment's year-to-date sales are also marginally down at 214,641 units, versus 219,432 units in FY25.
The compact sedan Ciaz's relevance further decreased, with sales of only 173 units, compared to 603 in July last year. This 71 per cent fall signifies declining demand for the segment. However, sales of the Eeco van grew by 3.6 per cent, to 12,341 units compared to 11,916 last year, potentially driven by rural demand and extensive commercial adoption.
Maruti's sole LCV, the Super Carry, dipped by 3 per cent in terms of July sales, to 2,794 units. However, this is a perennial performer in the small commercial vehicle segment. Cumulative FY26 sales to date are still marginally up, signalling robust demand.
Maruti Suzuki is set to gain traction by making several significant moves in the coming quarters:
1. e Vitara Electric SUV: The company’s first EV model, set to be launched in September, is undergoing extensive road testing. This will mark Maruti Suzuki’s formal entry into India’s fast-growing EV market.
2. New Escudo SUV: Maruti will launch the new Escudo SUV in India on September 3, filling in the gap between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara.
3. New 3-Row GV: The year will conclude on a high note with the introduction of a 7-seater, 3-row Grand Vitara to challenge the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, etc.
