The Pune-based bikemaker delivered 1,124 Chetaks on an average per day in March 2025.
Bajaj Auto retailed 34,863 units of Chetaks last month, which was its highest ever monthly EV sales ever, as per the Vahan portal. This translates to an average of 1,124 Chetak delivered every day in March 2025. It also helped the brand cap off a record fiscal growth of 116 per cent, with 2,30,761 units retailed in FY25, as against the 1,06,624 units it retailed in FY25.
This is the third time in the fiscal year and for the second month running that Bajaj has been the monthly champ. TVS comes in at number two, which retailed 30,453 units last month, while Ola rounded off the top three by retailing 23,430 units. This consistent growth throughout the fiscal year helped Bajaj Auto surpass the 2,00,000 milestone for the first time in a fiscal year. This in turn has also helped the company’s electric two-wheeler share nearly double from 11 per cent in FY24 to 20 per cent in FY25.
The Chetak has evolved massively over the years, becoming a major crowd favourite. It now has an impressive iconic design that is backed by a comparatively lower cost of ownership. The bigger battery with the new 35 series helps ease range anxiety and it doesn’t take too long for a quick charge up as you get improved chargers now, too.
It is available in two variants – 3501 and 3502, priced at ₹1.28 lakh and ₹1.20 lakh (ex-showroom price, India), respectively. Both are powered by a 3.5 kWh battery that is good for 153 km of claimed range, and the battery takes just 3 hours to charge from 0-80 per cent.
Bajaj is also working on making the Chetak range more accessible to the masses. New affordable variants of the Chetak are already in the works, and the final product is expected to launch this year. These upcoming models should further help the brand cement its position as the number one electric two-wheeler manufacturer.
