Bajaj’s domestic sales have remained stagnant with just a minor 2 per cent year-on-year growth.
Bajaj Auto reported that its business cumulatively improved by 8 per cent in May 2025 with 3,84,621 units retailed compared to the 3,55,323 units in May 2024. Out of which 2,25,733 units were retailed in the domestic market while the rest 1,58,888 units were exported. While domestic sales performance has remained stagnant on a year-on-year basis with 2,25,087 units in the corresponding month last year, its export business has grown by a staggering 22 per cent as against the 1,30,236 units exported in May 2024.
However, on a year-to-date basis, Bajaj’s cumulative domestic business has declined by 6 per cent with 4,46,348 units retailed compared to 4,74,170 units retailed in May 2024. Whereas, its export business during the same period has improved by 13 per cent. But with both combined, it does not work out much for the brand as it represents just a minor 1 per cent growth in business.
Bajaj sold just 2 per cent more motorcycles and scooters last month in the domestic market at 1,91,412 units compared to 1,88,340 units it retailed in May 2024. But exported 20 per cent more two-wheelers in the same period at 1,40,958 units compared to the 1,17,142 units last year in May.
While the brand does not have any new product launches this year, it has updated its entire Pulsar portfolio with new features throughout this year. In the coming months, Bajaj expects its export business will further grow by 1,60,000-1,70,000 units. Bajaj Auto’s Executive Director, Rakesh Sharma further informed that June sales figures will be able to give a more accurate picture of the industry trend, as the domestic market has been very inconsistent since October 2024. The senior Bajaj official cited how the wedding season will be spread across April through June, unlike in 2024 which was concentrated in April.
