Auto Sales October 2023: Maruti Suzuki Sees 19 Per Cent Growth

Maruti Suzuki’s SUVs and MPVs saw a year-on-year growth of almost 91 per cent. 

Maruti Suzuki registered total sales of 1,99,217 units in October 2023, with a year-on-year growth of nearly 19 per cent. This includes domestic sales, exports as well sales to other manufacturers of passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. 

Passenger vehicle sales for Maruti Suzuki total up to 1,68,047 units, a growth of nearly 20 per cent compared to the same period last year. Of these, utility vehicles (SUVs and MPVs) sold 59,147 units in the previous month and witnessed an astonishing growth of almost 91 per cent. This was helped by the launch of the Fronx, Jimny, Brezza and Grand Vitara as well as the updated Ertiga and XL6 MPVs.

The Ciaz has become a slow seller for Maruti Suzuki as it only sold 695 units, recording a 63 per cent drop in sales compared to October 2022. Similarly, Alto and S Presso are seeing a reduction in sales as they sold 14,568 units (combined), down by 41 per cent compared to last year. All other models have seen growth in sales compared to October 2022.

Maruti Suzuki also witnessed growth in terms of sales to other manufacturers. In October 2023, it sold 5,325 units with a year-on-year growth of 39 per cent. Even its commercial vehicle arm, which sells the Super Carry, sold 3,894 units with a growth of 33 per cent compared to October 2022.

In terms of exports, Maruti Suzuki saw minimal year-on-year growth of just 7 per cent, having sold 21,951 units in October 2023.
