Tata Motors has expanded its sustainable mobility infrastructure by launching two new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) under its Re.Wi.Re (Recycle with Respect) programme, says a report by Express Drives. The new centres in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and Raipur, Chhattisgarh, were virtually inaugurated by Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The newly-established facilities feature comprehensive vehicle processing capabilities, accepting passenger cars, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers from all automotive brands.
The Raipur facility, managed through the partnership of Tata Motors with Raipur Green Energy, features an annual dismantling capacity of 25,000 vehicles. Meanwhile, the Lucknow centre, operated by Moto Scrapland, can process up to 15,000 vehicles annually, bringing structured recycling solutions to both regions.
During the virtual inauguration, Union Minister Gadkari emphasised that the facilities aligned with the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy objectives. "These modern centres represent significant progress in empowering citizens to adopt cleaner, more fuel-efficient vehicles through structured incentive programmes," Gadkari was quoted as saying in the report.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director at Tata Motors, outlined the company's comprehensive sustainability approach during the launch event. "Sustainability represents a foundational pillar in shaping mobility's future rather than merely serving as a corporate commitment," Wagh explained.
The expansion brings the company's total Re.Wi.Re facility count to 10 locations across India, including existing centres in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Pune, Guwahati, and Kolkata. This network now enables responsible dismantling of over 175,000 end-of-life vehicles annually.
Each Re.Wi.Re facility incorporates fully digitalised operations with specialised dismantling methodologies. The centres feature cell-type dismantling systems for commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers, while using line-type dismantling processes for passenger vehicles.
