GST 2.0 Fuels 10% YoY Growth, Hyundai India Sales Surge

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) posted robust September sales of 70,347 units, up 9.6% from 64,201 units in September 2024, driven by the GST 2.0 rate cut and festive demand. Domestic passenger car wholesales rose marginally to 51,547 units, a 0.9% increase over 51,101 units a year ago, while exports jumped 43.5% to 18,800 units, the highest monthly tally since December 2022.

Sequential Trend: June–September 2025

HMIL’s total monthly sales have trended steadily upwards over the last four months.

Domestic wholesales rebounded sharply in September, rising 17.2% from 44,001 units in August, underscoring strong festival-season demand. June and July were softer months, impacted by pre-GST purchasing delays, with domestic volumes of 44,024 and 43,973 units respectively. 

SUVs Drive Growth

SUVs accounted for a record 72.4% of HMIL’s domestic sales in September, with 37,313 units sold. The Creta achieved its highest-ever monthly tally of 18,861 units, while the Venue notched 11,484 units, its best performance in 20 months.

Monthly Momentum Builds

Comparing September 2025 performance to recent months reveals consistent growth momentum. Total sales increased 16.3% from August 2025 (60,501 units), 17.1% from July 2025 (60,073 units), and 15.5% from June 2025 (60,924 units). Domestic sales showed even stronger sequential growth, rising 17.1% from August, 17.2% from July, and 17.1% from June 2025, indicating sustained recovery in the Indian passenger vehicle market.
