Announced at AWS re:Invent 2023, Amazon Q allows users to ask natural language questions about their businesses.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched a new AI assistant called Amazon Q, which aims to transform how developers and employees work by providing generative AI-powered assistance.
Announced at AWS re:Invent, Amazon Q allows users to ask natural language questions about their businesses using their internal data and systems. It understands a company's existing identities, roles and permissions to tailor responses.
AWS said Amazon Q has been trained on 17 years of AWS knowledge and can quickly answer questions about AWS services and architectures. It connects to over 40 productivity tools like Salesforce, ServiceNow, Jira and Dropbox through pre-built connectors.
Within a company's documentation pages, IDE or chat tools like Slack, Amazon Q surfaces relevant information from a business' data sources instead of employees searching multiple systems. It only includes information a user has permission to access.
Amazon Q is currently available for Amazon Connect contact centres, with versions for Amazon QuickSight business intelligence and AWS Supply Chain management services in preview. Pricing for Amazon Q in Connect starts at $40 per agent per month.
AWS partners like Accenture, BMW Group and Gilead Sciences said Amazon Q will accelerate tasks like code upgrades, dashboard building, supply chain analysis, etc. Developers can use it to get guidance on features, coding issues and optimizing applications.
Dr Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of Data and Artificial Intelligence at AWS, said, "Generative AI has the potential to spur a technological shift that will reshape how people do everything from searching for information and exploring new ideas to writing and building applications. Amazon Q builds on AWS's history of taking complex, expensive technologies and making them accessible to customers of all sizes and technical abilities, with a data-first approach and enterprise-grade security and privacy built-in from the start. By bringing generative AI to where our customers work—whether they are building on AWS, working with internal data and systems, or using a range of data and business applications—Amazon Q is a powerful addition to the application layer of our generative AI stack that opens up new possibilities for every organization."
