Bajaj Auto had reported that its cumulative sales dropped by 6 per cent in April 2025, while exports increased by 4 per cent.

Bajaj Auto announced that its domestic sales performance dropped by 6 per cent last month (April, 2025), however, its export business registered a modest 4 per cent growth with 1,29,322 units exported. In an official call with a select few journalists, the company’s executive director, Rakesh Sharma attributed it to temporary factors. Moving forward, he further stated that the company’s monthly export volume is expected to increase by 1,60,000 – 1,70,000 units in the next two to three months.

He further revealed that June sales figures will be able to give a more accurate picture of the industry trend, because demand in the domestic market has been inconsistent since October 2024.

Rakesh Sharma stated that Bajaj Auto's export figures are expected to grow further.

According to Sharma, April typically benefits from seasonal demand in northern India due to wedding purchases. However, he pointed out that 2025's wedding season will be spread across April through June, unlike 2024 when events were concentrated in April. When comparing April 2025 sales to March rather than the previous year, Sharma sees encouraging noted potential industry growth.

In Africa, particularly Nigeria, Bajaj's retail sales currently hovers around 18,000 units monthly, which Sharma acknowledges is "slightly below expectation" due to currency concerns. He noted that post-Christmas slowdowns, combined with geopolitical tensions and tariff discussions, have created additional challenges, though he believes conditions are now stabilising.

The company has implemented minor pricing adjustments in both domestic and export markets, with changes ranging between -2 per cent and +2 per cent, particularly affecting the entry-level Pulsar line. Looking ahead, Sharma expects the auto industry to maintain 5-6 per cent growth this year, similar to last year's performance, though he warns that growth may not be consistent across all quarters.
