Lotus' X Hybrid system uses a 900V architecture for 20-80 percent charging in nine minutes.
Lotus has announced its X Hybrid technology for the Eletre X SUV. The system delivers 948bhp and a combined range over 1,200 km WLTP. It provides up to 350 km pure electric range with a 70 kWh battery.
The announcement came from Shanghai on March 6. X Hybrid made its global debut in China with the For Me SUV. This model serves as the prototype for European specs. Lotus plans a European launch in June 2026, with deliveries in Q4 and UK arrivals soon after.
X Hybrid uses a 900V architecture for 20-80 percent charging in nine minutes. It features dual motors for a 0-100 kmph time of 3.3 seconds. The system switches between pure EV, series hybrid, and parallel hybrid modes. A 150 kW generator supports the battery on long drives.
The Lotus Eletre X targets luxury hybrid SUV rivals. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid offers 729 bhp from a V8 and electric motor while the Range Rover Sport P550e provides 543 bhp with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder and electric setup. The BMW XM delivers 653 bhp via V8 and plug-in hybrid.
The Lamborghini Urus is another rival with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The platform includes a 52-litre fuel tank for extended travel. It has six operating modes for different speeds and demands. Chassis features include 48V active anti-roll bar and Brembo brakes.
Interior options cover Nappa leather and KEF audio with 23 speakers. European specs for Eletre X will follow closer to launch. All data here refers to the China-market For Me model.
Lotus positions the X Hybrid as electric-first with hybrid support. The Eletre X expands the Eletre family. Will we see it in India? Not so soon, maybe next year!
