In its first phase, Bajaj Auto plans to expand to over 100 towns across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, MP, Chhattisgarh, and Assam.
E-rickshaws have played an important role in last-mile mobility by serving metro and suburban public transport and commercial networks, which means reliability and safety are important for both drivers and passengers. The segment has grown considerably since the Covid period, adding more than 45,000 vehicles each month, supported by rising demand for cost-effective last-mile transportation.
Bajaj Auto has officially entered the last mile electric three-wheeler space with the launch of its new Riki range. This battery-powered three-wheeler is available in two derivatives – P4005 (e-rickshaw) and C4005 (e-cart), priced at ₹1,90,890 and ₹2,00,876 respectively (both ex-showroom). Bajaj has already introduced the Riki as a pilot project in Patna, Moradabad, Guwahati, and Raipur, and now plans to expand to over 100 towns across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, MP, Chhattisgarh, and Assam in its first phase.
The Bajaj Riki P4005 has been designed to offer improved performance and durability for daily urban operations. It comes equipped with hill-hold assist and the company claims enhanced torque delivery on slopes, for confident starts and smoother climbs. The 5.4 kWh LFP battery offers a claimed range of 149 km and can be fully charged in four hours.
Built on an all-steel skateboard chassis, the Riki P4005 features independent suspension with an anti-roll bar and coil springs, helping deliver a more stable and comfortable ride for both drivers and passengers. Its 19 percent gradeability makes it suitable for inclines of up to 10.5 degrees, while hydraulic brakes provide a 25 percent improvement in stopping distance. Additional conveniences include a digital instrument cluster and a USB charging port.
Besides the P4005, Bajaj is also offering an e-cart version, called the Riki C4005. This variant of the electric three-wheeler has a claimed range of 164km and a higher 28 percent gradeability, which allows for a comfortable ride on slopes and flyovers. However, Bajaj hasn’t shared its exact payload capacity yet. For both derivatives, Bajaj is offering a 3-year/60,000 km warranty as standard.
