The launch of the first Bajaj CNG bike has already been confirmed for June 18.
At the launch of the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z, Rajiv Bajaj confirmed that the world’s first CNG-powered motorcycle will launch on June 18. Later on in an interview, the bossman further affirmed that there will also be 5-6 CNG-powered motorcycles in the upcoming years. But that depends on how the first CNG-powered bike is received in the market.
Moreover, Rajiv Bajaj also addressed concerns about how some have been skeptical about a CNG motorcycle, having reservations regarding the weight and balance of the motorcycle. Furthermore, the fact that one will be sitting close to a CNG cylinder has also been an unsettling thought.

Then there is also the other half who are looking forward to the bike for how it will have running costs almost half that of a petrol bike. Given this polarised response about such a new product, Rajiv Bajaj further stated that production would be limited in the initial periods to gauge the market initially.

As for its market target, Rajiv Bajaj cited Maruti Suzuki’s 27 per cent share in the CNG market, and basing its popular acceptance, he believes that around 1.5 lakh units of CNG motorcycles can be sold. But initially, the Chakan-based manufacturer will aim for 20,000 CNG motorcycles per month, and if demand follows this will increase substantially. As he puts it: “Thy sky is the limit.”
