Unveiled as India's First "Rider's Utility Vehicle"

Bgauss has given a first look at the RUV350, as the country's first "Rider's Utility Vehicle" (RUV). This upcoming electric scooter is designed to cater to riders seeking more than just city commutes. Here are some of the highlights of this upcoming electric scooter.

Largest-in-class wheels

The Bgauss RUV350 has the largest alloy wheels ever seen on an electric scooter in India. While the official figures are under wraps these are 16 inches in diameter . These large wheels make it look like a combination between a scooter and motorcycle, and remind of us the step-through scooters which are hugely popular in South East Asia. This should add stability on rough roads and give it agility to tackle the urban roads Additionally, larger wheels can contribute to improved ground clearance.

Rugged build

Bgauss RUV350 is the second electric scooter to get an all metal body after the Bajaj Chetak. Having a complete metal body keeps the component cost low in event of a crash as insurance is likely to cover most of it. And more importantly it gives the scooter added ruggedness.

Bgauss RUV350 is equipped with a telescopic fork in the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The travel distance of both the front and rear suspension appears visually longer compared to standard electric scooters. Additionally, the presence of fork boots act as a protective shield, preventing dust, dirt, and debris from entering the internals of the fork and compliments the look.

Features

Bgauss RUV350 comes equipped with a host of features. It gets all LED lighting and a digital TFT instrument cluster. The instrument cluster is expected to have connected features which are the norm of the industry currently. This will provide riders with a clear and informative view of essential ride statistics, such as speed, DTE, battery level, odometer, trip-metre, and turn indicators .

Storage solutions

Bgauss RUV350 has an under-seat compartment that can comfortably accommodate at least a half-face helmet. Additionally, a storage cubby behind the front apron provides a handy spot to stash smaller items like gloves or rain gear. The most intuitive bit is the storage for the charger on the floor board making it easy to carry the charger without it hogging up the under seat storage.

Official launch

The official unveiling of the Bgauss RUV350 is scheduled for June 25, 2024. With an expected price tag exceeding ₹ 1 lakh (ex-showroom), it will compete with established players like Ola Electric, Ather, TVS, Hero, and Hero Electric in the ever-growing Indian electric scooter market.
