The Highline package adds some more bells and whistles to it.
Months after introducing India’s most expensive electric scooter, the CE 04, BMW Motorrad has launched another electric two-wheeler in the country. The BMW CE 02, a funky electric monkey bike made in India, is arriving at a steep ₹4.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The fancier Highline package adds a few more lakhs BMW has not specified the exact range.
You are getting a rather unique ride. It is a monkey/mini bike, something that marries motorcycle handling characteristics with scooter-like approachability. It has this alien look about it that one might find either intriguing or displeasing.

Underneath the funky clothing, two 1.96 kWh battery packs power an electric motor to produce a peak power of 11 kW and 55 Nm of instantaneous torque. The CE 02 can zip away from nought to 50 kmph in 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 95 kmph. It takes a little over 5 hours for a full charge via the standard 950 W charger.
However, the Highline package brings a faster 1.5 kW charger that drops the charging time to 3 hours 30 minutes. Along with the charger, you also receive the Flash riding mode, BMW Motorrad Connected technology, gold finish for the USD fork, heated grips, special Highline livery, BMW tricolour seat and an SP Connect mobile holder.

For the same amount of money as the CE 02, one could look at more solid purchases like the KTM 390 Duke, Triumph Scrambler 400X or even the Royal Enfield parallel twins. However, asking someone to splurge that much moolah for a city runabout that might not be to everyone’s tastes is difficult.
