The F 450 GS will be the most affordable ADV bike in BMW Motorrad’s India portfolio.
The wait for BMW enthusiasts is finally over as the company has announced the launch date for the much-anticipated BMW F 450 GS. BMW’s latest ADV bike will go on sale in India on April 23. The bike was officially unveiled and launched in the European market last year at the 2025 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy. This will be BMW Motorrad’s first sub-500 cc twin-cylinder ADV motorcycle and it will be manufactured in India by TVS, as it had done in the past with the BMW G 310 portfolio. Currently only the BMW G 310 RR remains on sale in India as the G 310 R and the G 310 GS have been discontinued.
The BMW F 450 GS steps in as the successor to the G 310 GS in the company’s portfolio, marking a significant upgrade in both performance and capability. At its heart is a brand-new 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that delivers 48 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox, complete with a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. Compared to the older single-cylinder G 310 GS, this twin-cylinder motor is expected to offer smoother refinement, stronger mid-range punch, and more relaxed highway cruising—qualities that touring enthusiasts will appreciate.

The production-spec F 450 GS carries forward the trellis frame design first showcased on the concept. Suspension duties are managed by USD front fork and a rear monoshock, both offering 180 mm of travel, giving it the versatility to handle light off-road trails. Despite its adventure-ready setup, the motorcycle tips the scales at a relatively light 175 kg (kerb). It rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel combination, fitted with dual-purpose tyres to balance on-road comfort and off-road capability.
There are multiple variants of the BMW F 450 GS on sale in Europe and it will be interesting to see which variants are offered for our market. When it comes to pricing, the BMW F 450 GS is likely to be positioned as a premium product with an expected price range between ₹5 lakh and ₹5.50 lakh (ex-showroom) bracket.
