This new BMW sportsbike will be the second offering on the 450 platform after the BMW F 450 GS.
While we eagerly wait for BMW to launch the F 450 GS in India, a new motorcycle has been spotted testing and it hints at another new bike from the German brand. The heavily camouflaged test mule has been spotted for the first time, and leads us to believe that it could be the new BMW F 450 RR. This will be the second new bike on the BMW 450 cc platform and honestly we’re a bit surprised, as the bike to follow the BMW F 450 GS was expected to be a street naked offering.
While there is a lot of debate whether the test mule is a TVS Apache 450 or the BMW offering, we think it’s the latter. The brake caliper has BMW Motorrad branding and also the rotary mode selector on the left side of the handlebar as seen on the F 450 GS. Even the rear brake light and indicator design is very similar to that seen on the BMW S 1000 RR. While the design details are hidden, we expect the styling of the bike to be similar to the flagship BMW superbike, and one can also see integrated winglets below the headlight.
The upcoming BMW sportsbike will be powered by the same 420 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine as seen on the F 450 GS. On the ADV bike, it produces 48 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, featuring a slipper clutch and bi-directional quickshifter as standard. The engine tune on the BMW F 450 RR is expected to be different to better suit its sporty DNA. It will also feature multiple ride modes, traction control, dual-channel ABS and even cruise control. The frame of the bike will be modified as seen on the test mule; it's suspended on a USD fork and monoshock unit.
The BMW F 450 GS is expected to go on sale in India by March 2026, and it could retail for between ₹5 lakh and ₹5.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The BMW F 450 RR might make its global debut at the 2026 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy later this year and will take on the Aprilia RS 457 and could be priced around ₹4.50-5 lakh (ex-showroom).
