BMW i5 M60 xDrive Launched In India At ₹1.20 Crore

The first-ever all-electric BMW i5 M60 xDrive has finally made its way to Indian shores, priced at ₹1,19,50,000 (ex-showroom, India). This is the sixth all-electric offering from BMW India after the BMW i5, iX, i4, i7, and iX1. BMW is also slated to launch the long-wheelbase ICE version of the standard 5 series, but that will arrive in the third quarter of this financial year. As for the newly introduced BMW i5 M60 xDrive, it is the first performance-oriented ‘M’ model in BMW India’s EV line-up. 

BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Powertrain and Drivetrain

Like a typical ‘M’ car, the powertrain of the BMW i5 M60 xDrive has been developed to deliver the utmost performance. It is powered by a high-voltage, high-density 81.2 kWh battery paired to two highly integrated electric motors which has a combined output of 601 bhp and 795 Nm. Coupled with all-wheel drive capability, the performance sedan can dash from 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 230 kmph. 

BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Range And Charger

On a single charge, the new BMW i5 M60 xDrive is good for 516 km of range (WLTP test cycle). To charge this electric performance sedan, the BMW is offering an 11 kW wall box charger as standard. Additionally, customers can also opt for a 22 kW AC Charging. Additionally, there's also a 205 kW DC fast charger that takes 30 minutes to charge the battery from 10%-80%.

BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Exterior Design

Since the BMW i5 M60 xDrive is based on the i5 some of the design elements like the illuminated BMW kidney grille, and the “Sharknose” styled front section have been carried over, and the side view further reinstates its i5 origin. 

In addition to that, BMW is also offering the i5 M60 xDrive with its M Sport Pro Package as standard, which further gets you M-specific designs like larger air intakes at the front, flared side skirts in high-gloss black, a rear apron with diffuser insert, M high-gloss Shadow line lights on the front and rear, and red painted brake calipers. Furthermore, the illuminated BMW kidney grille also gets a black surround, along with a dynamic light carpet. The mirror caps and rear spoiler are also finished in high-gloss black to further give it a distinct ‘M’ appeal. 

BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Interior Highlights

Carrying the M-theme from the exterior to the interior, the 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive’s cabin also gets several M-specific bits. For starters, the user interface on the large BMW curved display gets M-specific graphics. The screen is further adorned by a large surface carbon fibre trim strip, which can also be altered for a dark silver accent with fine-wood trim in dark oak high gloss or open-pored as optional. 

The cabin also gets a panoramic sunroof, along with sports seats with active seat ventilation function. An 18-speaker Bowers and Wilkinson Surround sound system, and an M leather-wrapped steering wheel are some of the other highlights. 

BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Features

Aside from the latest BMW OS 8.5, the 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive will be available with BMW Live Cockpit Professional. Which in conjunction with the BMW heads-up display is available as standard. This advanced display supports a cloud-based navigation system via BMW Maps, and offers both an augmented view of the information display behind the steering wheel, and improved navigation to locate charging stations along the route precisely. 

In addition to that, advanced driver assist functionalities cruise control, attentiveness assistant, parking assistant via smartphone and reverse assistant, distance control with stop and go function, steering, and lane control assistant, are available as standard. With rider comfort in mind, BMW also offers its Adaptive Suspension Professional as standard. However, for enthusiasts with deeper pockets, BMW is also offering its Adaptive M Suspension Professional with Active Roll Stabilisation as an option.
