In a significant expansion of its electric vehicle portfolio, BMW is unveiling the BMW iX1 eDrive20, a budget-friendly variant of its popular electric SUV. This latest addition retains the design and interior that BMW enthusiasts adore while extending its fully electric range. The BMW iX1 eDrive20 packs an electric punch, with a maximum output of 201 bhp (with a temporary boost) from its electric motor. Accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.6 seconds, it boasts a top speed electronically capped at 170 kmph. What truly sets this compact SUV apart is its range of 431 to 476 km according to WLTP standards.
Underneath the BMW iX1 eDrive20 lies a high-voltage battery tucked in the vehicle floor, providing 64.7 kWh of usable energy content. This, coupled with the electric motor's efficiency, contributes to its favourable power consumption. The model supports standard AC charging at up to 11 kW, enabling a full charge from 0 to 100 per cent in just 6.5 hours. Opting for three-phase AC charging at up to 22 kW further reduces charging time to a mere 3 hours and 45 minutes. For those in a hurry, DC fast-charging at up to 130 kW offers a swift 10 to 80 per cent charge in 29 minutes at compatible fast-charging stations.
The BMW iX1 eDrive20 is loaded with standard features, including the BMW Maps navigation system, two-zone automatic climate control, and a suite of driver assistance systems. The BMW Curved Display takes centre stage in the driver's cockpit, featuring a 10.25-inch information display and a 10.7-inch control display integrated under a single curved glass surface. The latest BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect" and BMW Operating System 9 enhance the user experience, offering access to digital content, expedited over-the-air updates, and an array of online services.
The BMW iX1 eDrive20 will arrive in the UK markets by November 2023 and will be available in three trims- Sport, xLine, and M Sport, with prices ranging from £44,560 (approx. Rs. 46.54 lakh) to £49,310 (approx. Rs. 51.50 lakh). Production of this new model will take place at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg.
