BMW on Monday officially launched its M440i xDrive Convertible to the Indian market, offering the open-top model as a Completely Built-Up Unit priced at ₹1,09,00,000 ex-showroom. The car is powered by BMW's B58 inline six-cylinder 3.0-litre petrol engine, producing 374 hp and 500 Nm of torque. BMW claims it is the most powerful and fastest car in its segment, capable of reaching 100 km/h from rest in 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h. A 48V mild-hybrid system supports both performance and fuel efficiency, while an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic handles gearchanges, with paddle shifters fitted as standard.
Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, said the convertible represented "a new expression of sporting freedom" and described it as a vehicle that goes beyond performance to offer "a distinctive, aspirational lifestyle."
The M440i's soft-top roof can be raised or lowered in 18 seconds and operates at speeds up to 50 km/h. Inside, buyers get a BMW Curved Display, perforated Sensatec sports seats with electric adjustment and memory, an M leather flat-bottomed steering wheel, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. The cabin trim features Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite detailing with ambient lighting.
The car wears new 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in a bi-colour double-spoke design. At the rear, BMW has fitted CSL-style tail lights with a laser-etched woven pattern, borrowed from the M4 CSL. The front features adaptive LED headlights alongside a high-gloss black kidney grille and M Lights Shadowline treatment.
Eight exterior colours are available in Portimao Blue, Brooklyn Grey, Cape York Green, Fire Red, Arctic Race Blue, Black Sapphire, Mineral White and Alpine White, with further individualisation available on request. Interior upholstery comes in Black, Tacora Red or Cognac Sensatec.
Through BMW India Financial Services, prospective buyers can access a finance scheme with an assured buyback of 63 per cent of the car's value after three years or 10,000 km.
