This could be BMW’s most affordable long-wheelbase model in India.
BMW India has officially opened bookings for the long-wheelbase version of its entry-level SUV, the X1, prior to its scheduled commercial launch on 21 August.
Manufactured locally at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai, prospective buyers can place their reservations across any authorised dealership in the country or through the official BMW India digital portal. Following the earlier introduction of the fully electric iX1 LWB, this internal combustion engine variant is positioned to become the most accessible petrol and diesel long-wheelbase model in the German luxury automaker's Indian line-up.
The primary highlight of the X1 LWB lies in its altered physical dimensions, which have been specifically tailored to improve rear-seat passenger comfort. The vehicle measures 4,616 mm in length, 1,641 mm in height, and features an extended wheelbase measuring 2,802 mm. When compared with the outgoing standard-wheelbase model, this represents an increase of 116 mm in total length, 11 mm in height, and a significant 110 mm extension in the wheelbase.

Inside the vehicle, the stretched footprint translates directly into substantially enhanced knee room and legroom for second-row occupants. The dashboard architecture retains BMW's signature curved display arrangement, combining a 10.25-inch digital driver information cluster with a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen that runs on the latest iDrive operating system.
Under the bonnet, the X1 LWB is expected to maintain the existing engine options offered in the standard range. These options consist of a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine alongside a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel motor, both paired with automatic transmission units to deliver balanced everyday performance.
