The new BMW X3 M40i comes to India via the CBU route.

BMW India has launched the first-ever BMW X3 M40i in the country at Rs. 86.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The new BMW X3 M40i joins the X3 range in the country with M-specific cosmetic tweaks and identical power outputs to the BMW M340i. Available in limited numbers, the new BMW X3 M40i comes to India via the CBU route and will be offered as the top-spec variant in the company’s X3 line-up for India.

Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “With its phenomenal engine power, fine-tuned handling, and an appearance designed by BMW M, the first-ever BMW X3 M40i is a dominating force, no matter where the road leads. This new M interpretation of the BMW X3 takes the excitement a notch higher into the Sports Activity Vehicle range.”

The BMW X3 M40i is available in two metallic paint colors: Brooklyn Grey and Black Sapphire. Moreover, the styling is tweaked for the M-specific changes, such as M double grille bars in high-gloss black, the M logo, adaptive LED headlights, M exterior mirrors in high-gloss black with Matrix function, M Shadow line lights, and tailpipe trims in black chrome. The SUV also comes fitted with the M high gloss shadow line, along with a similar treatment to the window graphics and roof rails, and frame. The BMW X3 M40i is fitted as standard with 20-inch M light alloy wheels with mixed tyres 245/45 R20 at the front and 275/40 R20 at the rear. The M Sport brakes are available with red brake calipers.

On the inside, the M-specific changes are limited but noteworthy. The BMW X3 M40i features an all-black theme with a carbon fibre finish on the interior trims, along with an M leather steering wheel and M seat belts. The rest of the features, such as a panoramic sunroof, auto climate control, a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, come as standard.

The BMW X3 M40i is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that develops 358 bhp and a maximum torque of 500 Nm at 1,900–5,000 rpm. The car accelerates from 0-100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 250 kmph. All this is transferred via an 8-speed automatic transmission. To add to the sportiness of M, the company adds xDrive all-wheel-drive technology along with M Sport differential lock, adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, and M Sport brakes.
