Launched as a limited edition, BMW India is offering a 6-speed manual transmission alongside the standard 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox.
BMW India has introduced the Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition, expanding its roadster portfolio with a limited-run variant that, for the first time in the Indian market, offers a 6-speed manual transmission alongside the standard 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox. BMW has priced the Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition at ₹96.90 lakh for the automatic variant and ₹97.90 lakh for the manual (ex-showroom, India).
Positioned as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU), the Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition introduces both cosmetic and mechanical enhancements. The model is available in two new metallic paint finishes — Frozen Deep Green and Sanremo Green — and debuts a staggered wheel setup with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear M light alloy wheels.
The manual variant of the Z4 features exclusive design touches, including Leather Vernasca Cognac upholstery with contrast stitching and edge detailing unique to this transmission. Both variants are powered by BMW’s 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine from the EfficientDynamics family, producing 335 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. According to BMW, the manual version accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds, while the automatic variant achieves the same in 4.5 seconds.
Inside, the cabin is outfitted with M Sport seats, an M leather steering wheel, and high-gloss black trim elements. The car features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and touchscreen interface powered by BMW Operating System 7.0, offering wireless Apple CarPlay, 3D navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity. The layout includes multiple storage compartments, including space behind the seats, under the centre armrest, and in the doors, as well as a through-loading system.
Exterior design elements include a reworked kidney grille with a horizontal mesh pattern, vertically aligned LED headlights, and a sculpted rear with slim L-shaped tail lamps, a pronounced spoiler, and a rear diffuser. Standard equipment includes red-painted M Sport brake callipers, High Gloss Shadowline exterior trims, and black mirror caps.
The Z4 M40i Pure Impulse also incorporates BMW’s EfficientDynamics technologies, such as Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO driving mode, and Brake Energy Regeneration. It maintains near 50:50 weight distribution and comes equipped with Adaptive M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes, and an M Sport differential as standard.
Safety features include dual front and side airbags, ABS with brake assist, Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Brake Control, side-impact protection, and an electronic immobiliser.
Optional equipment includes Comfort Access, adaptive LED headlights, a Harman Kardon surround sound system, head-up display, M seat belts, lumbar support, and the Anthracite Silver soft-top roof. Advanced driver assistance systems such as Parking Assistant, Active Park Distance Control, a rear-view camera, Driving Assistant, and wireless charging are also available.
