Bookings Open For Volvo XC40 Recharge Plus Variant In India

Days after launching the single-motor variant of the XC40 Recharge, Volvo Car India has opened the order books for the electric SUV. Interested customers can book the XC40 Recharge Plus for a token amount of ₹1 lakh and it can only be booked online. 

The XC40 Recharge Plus is priced at ₹54.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and is ₹3 lakh more affordable than the dual-motor XC40 Recharge Ultimate, which is priced at ₹57.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The Plus variant comes with a smaller 69 kWh battery compared to the Ultimate variant, which packs a 78 kWh battery. The Plus variant has a range of 475 km (WLTP), which is 30 km less than the Ultimate variant. Furthermore, the single-motor Plus variant produces 238 bhp and 420 Nm, while the dual-motor Ultimate variant produces 408 bhp and 660 Nm. 

Compared to the top-spec Ultimate variant, the Plus misses out on a 360-degree camera, Pixel LED headlights, fog lamps, Park Assist for the side and a Harmon Kardon-tuned audio system. Instead, it only gets a reverse camera, LED headlights, Park Assist for front and rear and a standard audio system. 

The XC40 Recharge Plus also gets features like seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, ADAS, a leather-free interior, a wireless charger, a vertically-oriented 9-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, among others. 

The Volvo XC40 Recharge competes with the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (₹46.05 lakh), BMW iX1 (₹66.90 lakh) and Kia EV6 (₹60.95 - 65.95 lakh).
