Royal Enfield's first electric bike is likely to hit the market in early 2026.
In a significant development for Royal Enfield’s EV future, patent images of the brand’s first electric motorcycle have just emerged. Thus harking the oncoming of an imminent launch soon with an official debut probably by late 2025, followed by a potential launch in 2026. The bike is in all probability built in collaboration with Stark Future, the Spanish EV company where Royal Enfield’s parent company Eicher Motors made a strategic investment worth 50 million Euros (almost ₹439 crore) for a 10.35 per cent stake in the company to procure its EV architecture last year.
As for the Royal Enfield electric bike, the patent images showcase the brand’s signature modern-retro aesthetic. While the overall styling is new, it incorporates familiar design elements from the company's Classic 350. One of the most striking features is the front suspension, which utilises girder fork – a design harking back to motorcycles from the 1920s. This choice indicates Royal Enfield's willingness to experiment with unconventional designs for its electric debut.
The electric motorcycle’s rear section, including the mudguard, seat, and indicators, draws inspiration from the Classic 350, maintaining a connection to the brand's heritage. The frame houses a substantial battery pack, suggesting a focus on range and performance and an aluminium swingarm with a traditional design complements the overall classic look.
Moreover, the patent image showcases a single-seater model, however, if looked closely there’s a set of footpegs at the rear as well. This suggests that Royal Enfield might be working on multiple electric bikes in the future as well all of which will share the same frame that we see here. Royal Enfield has already demonstrated this whole platform-sharing business with its J-series platform that underpins the Meteor 350, Classic 350, Hunter 350, and the Bullet 350.
While specific details about the electric motor remain undisclosed, it is speculated the bike will be quite powerful. The bike employs a belt drive system to transfer power to the rear wheel, which is a common feature in most electric motorcycles.
The official name for this electric model has not been announced, though it's currently known internally as "electrik01." Following recent trends, Royal Enfield may choose to revive a historic brand name for this new electric offering, as they did with models like the Super Meteor. Royal Enfield already sold the Electra before, and with this new electric model, we might very well see the brand revive this iconic name in the future.
Speaking of future launches, Royal Enfield is all set to launch the new Guerrilla 450 this month. The brand's second motorcycle to share the new 'Sherpa 450' engine has already been spied several times and the latest images confirmed that the bike will be available in two variants.
