The Brixton range has been brought to India by Kolhapur-based Motohaus
Austrian two-wheeler brand, Brixton made its India debut today as it launched a range of motorcycles. Brixton has partnered with Motohaus, part of the Kolhapur-based KAW group which will handle the sales and services of its motorcycles in our market. Brixton has launched four motorcycles, which fall under the 500 cc and 1,222 cc categories respectively. The bikes include the Brixton Crossfire 500 X, Crossfire 500 XC, Cromwell 1200, and Cromwell 1200 X and prices range from ₹4.75 lakh to ₹7.84 lakh (ex-showroom). Booking for the bikes had already started for ₹2,999 on its official website, and deliveries for the bikes will start from January 2025 onwards.
The Brixton Crossfire 500 series are the entry-level products from the Austrian brand. While both the bikes are based on the same platform, they differ in their intent, as the Crossfire 500 X is more suited for urban duties, whereas the Crossfire 500 XC is a more rugged and off-road focused motorcycle. Both the Crossfire duo are powered by a 486 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine delivering 47.6 bhp and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Both the bikes feature USD fork and a monoshock setup which are sourced from KYB and are fully adjustable, and braking system are sourced from J.Juan.
The Crossfire 500 X runs on road-spec 17-inch spoke tyres wrapped around tubeless spoke wheels, while the 500 XC variant gets dual-purpose tyres fitted on 19/17-inch tubeless spoke wheels. The seat height of both bikes differs, as the neo-retro roadster is much more accessible at 795 mm as opposed to the 838 mm of the Crossfire XC. The Brixton Crossfire 500 X is priced at ₹4.75 lakh and Crossfire 500 XC is priced at ₹5.20 lakh onwards (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Brixton Cromwell 1200 bikes have a retro appeal in their styling which makes them look similar to the Triumph Bonneville range of bikes. The Brixton Cromwell 1200 is a retro roadster, whereas the Brixton Cromwell 1200 X is a scrambler derivative of the same. Powering the bikes is a 1,222 cc, liquid-cooled power plant rated at 83 bhp and a massive 108 Nm at just 3,100 Nm. It also features two ride modes and also gets cruise control, something you normally don’t see commonly on retro motorcycles.
Both the motorcycles feature the same frame which is suspended on a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the back. Even the braking hardware (sourced from Nissin) and spoke wheels are the same too, the only difference being the more road-spec tyres on the standard variant. Seat height is also the same at 800 mm, and so is the kerb weight of 235 kg. The Brixton Cromwell 1200 retails for ₹7.84 lakh whereas the Cromwell 1200 X is priced at ₹9.10 lakh. However, the latter will be brought to India in limited numbers and only 100 units will be reserved for the Indian market.
