The BYD eMax 7 electric MPV is available in two trims- Premium and Superior.
BYD India has launched its electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) available in both 6- and 7-seater configurations at a starting price of ₹26.90 lakh for the Premium variant and ₹29.30 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India) for the Superior trim. The BYD eMax 7 is essentially a refreshed model to the previous e6 electric MPV first launched in 2022. It comes with fresh styling, updated interior and a new set of features to make it a compelling product.
Prices (ex-showroom, India) | Premium | Superior |
---|---|---|
6-Seater | ₹26.90 lakh | ₹29.30 lakh |
7-Seater | ₹27.50 lakh | ₹29.90 lakh |
The BYD eMax 7 comes with 71.8 kWh and 55.4 kWh battery packs, respectively, delivering NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) tested ranges of 530 km for the Superior variant and 420 km for the Premium variant. The larger battery pack helps develop 201 bhp and 310 Nm while the smaller battery helps produce 161 bhp with similar torque. Earlier the e6 employed a single 71.7 kWh battery pack producing 94 bhp and 180 Nm of peak torque and offered a claimed range of 415 km.
BYD says the reason for better output is the integration of the 8-in-1 electric powertrain, part of the company’s acclaimed e-platform 3.0, which essentially combines eight critical components, including the motor and battery management system, to deliver superior energy efficiency and space optimisation. BYD also claims the eMAX 7 Superior trim can make the 0-100 kmph sprint in 8.6 seconds.
In terms of styling, the exterior features the "dragon-face" for an imposing road presence, while its LED headlights add a futuristic edge. The aerodynamically designed body and 17-inch alloy wheels offer a commanding stance, typical of high-end MPVs. Inside, the BYD eMAX 7 offers a black and brown two-tone interior, spacious seating, and a wide range of comfort-enhancing technologies. The cabin comes with ventilated front seats, a 12.8-inch rotatable infotainment display, and a 5-inch instrument cluster. The expansive panoramic glass roof adds a sense of openness.
The vehicle is available with 6- and 7-seater configurations, and its 580-litre boot space, with foldable third-row seats, ensures it can accommodate both people and cargo with ease. The BYD eMAX 7 is equipped with the company's renowned Blade Battery technology. The blade-like arrangement of the battery cells ensures efficient heat dissipation, making the system not only safer but also more efficient. This safety feature, combined with the eMAX 7’s 6 airbags, ABS, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD).
Additionally, the vehicle comes with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), which includes a host of driver-assistive features for safer driving. Another cutting-edge feature is VTOL (Vehicle to Load) technology, allowing the vehicle to power external devices, such as camping gear, providing greater versatility for outdoor enthusiasts.
