BYD Sealion 7 India Launch On February 17

BYD India has confirmed that the Sealion 7 will launch in India on February 17, 2025. The Sealion 7, BYD’s flagship SUV in India, was first showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo. Bookings for the Sealion 7 began on January 18 and the first 70 customers will get their cars from March 7 onwards. 

The Sealion 7 is the second BYD model using the brand’s new Ocean Series design language, following the Seal. It shares quite a lot of its design language with the Seal sedan, such as its headlamps and taillamps. The Sealion 7 will be BYD’s most expensive offering in India, which till now has been the Seal. 

Inside, the Sealion 7 gets a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, the USP of BYD models. It also has a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 50W wireless charger, multiple drive modes, two regen modes, a panoramic glass roof and more. Safety features include 11 airbags, stability control, three-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, ADAS and more.

BYD’s flagship SUV comes with an 82.56 kWh battery pack, shared with the Seal. It has two variants: Premium and Performance. The latter gets a single-motor, RWD layout with 308 bhp and 380 Nm and has a claimed range of 567 km. The Performance gets a dual-motor, AWD layout with 523 bhp and 690 Nm with a claimed range of 542 km on a full charge.

The Sealion 7 is expected to be priced around the ₹50 lakh mark, putting it in contention with the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (₹46.30 lakh*), BMW iX1 L (₹49 lakh*), Kia EV 6 (price yet to be revealed) and the Volvo EX40 (₹56.10 lakh*)
