Cautio acquires WTFund-backed Bytes to extend video telematics safety to two-wheelers.
Cautio, a video telematics company, has acquired Bytes, a deep-tech startup backed by Nikhil Kamath’s WTFund, IIT Mandi Catalyst, NSRCEL-IIM Bangalore, and Startup Karnataka. The move aims to enhance Cautio’s platform for comprehensive road safety, with a focus on two-wheelers.
India records over 1.5 lakh road fatalities annually, with two-wheelers involved in nearly three-fourths of cases. Many incidents remain unreported, highlighting gaps in monitoring. Bytes specialises in AI-powered safety systems tailored for two-wheelers, addressing challenges like limited space, power constraints, unpredictable rider behaviour, and dense traffic.
Cautio provides safety solutions for autos, cabs, buses, logistics, and enterprise fleets, analysing video data across 50+ cities with a 24x7 command centre for real-time intervention.
Ankit Acharya, Co-Founder & CEO, Cautio, said two-wheelers form the core of Indian mobility and require dedicated safety intelligence. The integration of Bytes aligns with extending proven video-based systems to this segment.
The BYTES founders and team will join Cautio’s R&D unit to develop solutions for rider visibility, real-time risk detection, incident recording, and response mechanisms suited to two-wheeler dynamics. Cautio plans increased investment in research, engineering, and capital for this category.
Aayush and Prakhar, Co-Founders, Bytes, stated their goal has been frictionless safety democratisation for two-wheelers. Joining Cautio enables faster scaling within a platform experienced in transforming mobility safety through video intelligence.
Cautio (Covert Eye Technologies Pvt. Ltd.) offers AI-powered dash-cam solutions for commercial mobility, combining hardware, computer vision, and command centre operations to detect fatigue, distraction, and collisions.
