Through artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced software, it aims to bring vehicles, fleets and ecosystems together.
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, Hyundai Motor Group announced its software-defined everything (SDx) strategy where through artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced software, it aims to bring vehicles, fleets and ecosystems together. Hyundai says this strategy will begin with the development of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
With SDVs, it wants to separate hardware and software to allow both to have independent updates and advancement techniques. Hyundai claims that this separation will allow faster updates for user-centric features and improvement of the device.
Hyundai will also develop a new infotainment system which can have an app market and will provide software development kits (SDKs) to outside developers to make their apps. Hyundai is also planning to integrate large language models (LLMs) into the AI assistant and the navigation system.
The group is also aiming to expand the SDx strategy by developing software solutions for fleet management for businesses. Along with fleet management services, it will have real-time data analytics, a user-friendly administrative interface, vehicle data and insights. The data will be differentiated based on hardware and software requirements but without the need for separate telematics devices.
Hyundai says eventually vehicles will transform into AI machines that will continuously learn to better serve its customers, so it will develop and deploy machine learning operations. Hyundai believes that these AI-powered vehicles will allow it to automate the maintenance and servicing of these vehicles, provide transparent data, address potential issues quickly, and improve the overall experience for the customers.
The final goal of the group is to create a concept called ‘Cloud Transportation’. With this, the group aims to make an ecosystem that makes transportation easily accessible to everyone by bringing software and AI-powered vehicles. Hyundai says that everyone will be interconnected through their devices and city infrastructure.
