Dreame Technology, known for vacuum cleaners, is planning to enter the ultra-luxury EV market with a 2027 hypercar powered by its 200,000 rpm motor.
Dreame Technology, a Chinese firm known for high-performance vacuum cleaners and robots, has announced its foray into the ultra-luxury electric vehicle (EV) sector.
The company revealed on Thursday that its debut electric hypercar is set for unveiling in 2027.
Dreame leverages its expertise in high-speed digital motor technology, achieving a world-first certification from Sullivan for a 200,000 RPM motor this year.
Originally used in its flagship Z50 Station vacuum cleaner, this innovation will drive the hypercar, positioning Dreame to create what it claims will be the world’s fastest car.
The company’s statement suggests a gap in the luxury EV market, where traditional brands like Bugatti and Bentley lag in electrification and smart features.
A Chinese media reports that Dreame has assembled a team of nearly 1,000 experts, blending skills from smart hardware and automotive manufacturing. The firm plans to expand this workforce and invest heavily in automotive tech.
The hypercar will feature an AI companion that adapts to drivers’ habits and emotions, offering advanced voice interaction and integration with smart homes and mobile devices.
Dreame, once part of the Xiaomi ecosystem, may draw inspiration from Xiaomi’s success in car manufacturing. However, it could also go rival company Dyson’s route, which abandoned its EV project despite initial promise.
Dreame’s ambition to challenge established hypercars with vacuum cleaner technology raises eyebrows, though its motor expertise could prove a unique advantage.
While the project is ambitious, its success hinges on overcoming technological and market challenges. Dreame’s entry could shake up the ultra-luxury EV segment, but its lack of automotive heritage might pose risks.
