The Delhi government has announced it will distribute 1,300 pink electric autos to women and transgender beneficiaries under its DURGA (Driving, Upliftment and Rozgar for Women and Transgender) E-Auto Scheme. In the first phase, 1,170 electric autos will be reserved for women and the remaining 130 for transgender beneficiaries.

"The objective goes beyond allocation of electric vehicles. It is about creating opportunities for women and transgender persons to build independent livelihoods, participate more actively in the transport sector and become self-reliant," Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh was quoted as saying by PTI.

Under the first phase, each revenue district will be allocated a maximum of 90 electric autos for women and up to 10 for transgender beneficiaries, subject to prescribed quotas and eligibility conditions.

Transparent Selection

The government will use a dedicated digital portal developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to manage applications and the allocation process.

Applications will be verified weekly. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available district quota, beneficiaries will be selected through an online draw of lots.

Beneficiaries will also be eligible for applicable purchase incentives under the prevailing Delhi EV Policy 2026, Singh added.
