The Tata Tigor could get some substantial updates very soon.

Tata Motors has filed a design patent for the 2026 Tigor in India, indicating that the sub-four-metre sedan is due to receive a substantial mid-cycle update in the near future.

The leaked patent illustrations showcase the vehicle from several angles, detailing a comprehensive styling overhaul that closely mirrors the aesthetic updates seen on the recently launched Tiago facelift. As one of the very few surviving sub-compact sedans, this upcoming refresh will mark the third major update for the Tigor since its initial inception.

The front profile depicted in the patent documents reveals a heavily redesigned bumper assembly that integrates a notably wider lower air intake finished with sleek horizontal slats. The upper grille section has been reprofiled into a slimmer layout compared to the outgoing model, whilst the surrounding headlamp housings have also been subtly reshaped.

Although the main bonnet contours remain largely uncluttered, the vehicle features a noticeably sharper nose profile, achieved through a flatter front fascia panel and crisper surfacing along the front bumper.

The rear end of the updated sedan benefits from more pronounced visual modifications. The tail lamp clusters have been completely re-engineered, complemented by a flatter, cleaner boot lid design that discards overly complex sheet metal folds. The rear bumper now integrates deeply sculpted sections at the outer corners, a revised housing for the registration plate, and a more upright lower apron.

These cumulative exterior updates are explicitly intended to bring the sedan's styling in line with the refreshed Tiago hatchback, which recently debuted with premium features such as full-LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, and fifteen-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the Tigor facelift is expected to inherit the Tiago’s updated dashboard layout, headlined by a large 10.25-inch central touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital driver's instrument cluster, a wireless smartphone charging pad, automatic climate control with dedicated rear AC vents, cruise control, and steering-mapped paddle shifters for the automatic variants.

Under the skin, the sub-compact sedan is expected to carry over its existing mechanical packages without any performance alterations. The conventional internal combustion range will continue to rely on the reliable 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that develops a peak power output of 85 bhp alongside 113 Nm of maximum torque.

The factory-fitted CNG variant will utilise the same powerplant in a modified state of tune, delivering 72 bhp and 95 Nm of torque, while retaining both manual and AMT gearbox options. Furthermore, the Tigor EV is slated to receive identical cosmetic and cabin updates, adopting the sharper front fascia, revised lighting signatures, and Tiago EV-inspired interior tech upgrades while retaining its existing battery pack capacity and electric motor output.
