The Rally is the more hardcore version of the standard bike and gets premium suspension hardware
The Ducati DesertX is among the most capable and exciting products in the Italian brands impressive portfolio. But it seems Ducati wanted to dial up the adventure quotient of the bike and has unveiled the new DesertX Rally. The big highlight of the new DesertX Rally is that it’s the first production Ducati bike to feature a 21-18 inch wheel setup.
The larger wheels and the new Kayaba closed cartridge long travel suspension (20 mm more than the standard bike) setup makes the new motorcycle a proper off-road machine. This has also resulted in the ground clearance increasing to 280 mm and the seat height is pretty high at 910 mm. The Rally variant also gets lighter and stronger Takasago Excel rims and Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.
While visually the Rally variant looks similar to the standard bike, but the high raised fender and the larger wheels make it look more aggressive. I also particularly liked the new livery which is subtle and classy. Other interesting goodies on the DesertX Rally include billet-machined triple clamps and Ohlins steering damper. Fuel tank capacity is 21 litres and this can be increased further with an auxiliary tank.
Powering the bike is the same 937 cc L-twin engine as seen on the standard machine delivering 111 bhp and 92 Nm. Being a Ducati, the DesertX Rally gets loaded with electronic aids such as six ride modes, adjustable cornering ABS, multi-level traction control, wheelie control, quickshifter, cruise control and a 5-inch TFT screen with navigation. Sales for the Ducati DesertX Rally will commence in January 2024 globally and we expect it to head to our shores in the first half of next year.
