The Ducati Desmo450 MX bookings have commenced in India, ahead of its launch soon. The Desmo450 MX is the Italian superbike maker’s first motocross machine and promises exhilarating performance on trails. The new Desmo450 MX is targeted at professional and amateur riders alike. The Desmo450 MX is nothing like Ducati’s existing lineup, which is a mix of track machines, adventure tourers, and retro scramblers.
Powering the Ducati Desmo450 MX is a 449.6 cc single-cylinder engine tuned to produce 62 bhp and 54 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. It’s the only offering in its class to get the Desmodromic valve system. Ducati says it has worked on the motocross machine to make it more manageable to ride. The weight of just 104 kg (dry) coupled with an abundance of power should make it a hoot to ride.
The Desmo450 MX is underpinned by an aluminium frame, optimised for weight savings and rigidity. Suspension duties are carried out by 49 mm Showa USD forks up front with 310 mm of travel and a monoshock at the rear with 301 mm of travel, both being adjustable. Braking performance comes from Brembo calipers with a 260 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc brake setup. The bike rides on 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tyres. There are a host of electronic aids on the Ducati Desmo450 MX including traction, a first for a motocross machine, along with a power launch and a quick shift.
The upcoming Ducati Desmo450 MX will take on the Kawasaki KX450 in the motocross segment.
