Ducati has introduced the limited-edition Formula 73 motorcycle in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹20 lakh. The Indian allocation has sold out, with the company no longer accepting bookings for the motorcycle, which is part of a global production run of 873 individually numbered units. The Formula 73 pays homage to the Ducati 750 Super Sport Desmo, launched in 1973 and inspired by the 750 Imola Desmo.

The latter won the 1972 200 Miglia di Imola race with riders Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari. The victory marked a significant milestone in Ducati's production-based racing history, which subsequently evolved into the Superbike racing format.

The motorcycle blends design cues from the original model with modern mechanical components and electronic features. Its styling includes a silver and aqua-green paint scheme, a steel trellis frame, clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors and a short front fairing.

A vertical gold stripe on the fuel tank recreates a distinctive detail from the original racing motorcycle.

The engine is housed in a steel trellis frame finished in aqua green. Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm upside-down KYB front fork and a preload-adjustable KYB rear shock absorber.

Braking is managed by a Brembo four-piston radial front calliper paired with a 330mm disc.

The motorcycle runs on 17-inch spoked wheels fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. The front tyre measures 120/70, while the rear gets a 180/55 unit. Its kerb weight, excluding fuel, is 183kg.

Its electronic features include cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, power modes and the Ducati Quick Shift system. Riders can choose between Sport and Road riding modes.
