EVs Drive Tata Motors Sales In August, Registers 59% Year-on-Year Hike

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) reported its sales for August 2026, and the company’s domestic sales stood at 65,253 units, growing by 59 per cent year-on-year, against 41,001 units sold during the same period last year. Exports rose by 56 per cent last month to 67,753 units, up from 43,315 units in August 2025. EVs were the driving force behind Tata’s sales momentum last month with a 94 per cent increase to 16,549 units, up from 8,540 units in August last year.

Tata Motors, which recently unveiled its new customer-facing identity, TATA.CARS, revealed that the company recorded its highest-ever monthly sales so far for FY2027 sales in August. The automaker’s retail market share expanded to 14.7 per cent, as per Vahan data, while international shipments reached an all-time high of 2,500 units.

The Tata Punch recorded the highest-ever domestic monthly sales, becoming the bestselling model for the company, while EV sales crossed a Vahan market share of 43.74 per cent, settling a new monthly record for Tata. The Punch EV also secured the highest-ever monthly sales last month. Tata further said that its CNG portfolio continued to witness strong consumer demand. The automaker’s sub-₹10 lakh range is available with CNG options.
