A few units have begun reaching certain Aprilia dealerships with the new SR 175 undercutting the SR 160 marginally.
Aprilia is taking the sporty scooter segment seriously once again by upping the ante with the 2025 SR 175 and the SR 125. While the latter just gets a cosmetic update, the larger SR 175 gets more oomph, something that seemed lacking with the outgoing Aprilia SR 160. The ex-showroom Pune prices for the 2025 SR 125 are ₹1.20 lakh, while the Aprilia SR 175 will retail for ₹1.26 lakh. The new SR 125 arrives at almost the same asking price as before, but the SR 175 is actually a little more affordable, as the base Aprilia SR 160 retailed for ₹1.32 lakh! For context, the ex-showroom Pune pricing for the TVS NTorq 125 Race XP trim is around ₹90,153 while the Yamaha Aerox 155 starts from ₹1.51 lakh.
For 2025, the styling of the sporty Aprilia scooters has been revised. The front beak is a lot more rounded, the upper cowl is sharper, and the seating seems to be a lot more well cushioned than before. It continues to arrive in traditional Aprilia Racing shades, complemented with red alloys. The other big update is that the Aprilia scooters now once again come equipped with Vee Rubber tyres.
While the 125 cc mill will not witness any updates other than the mandatory OBD-2B ones, the Aprilia SR 175 will now feature a larger 174 cc air-cooled mill that has been bored out from the previous 160’s. Performance as a result is going to be bumped up, but it is unlikely to be as powerful as the Yamaha Aerox 155. The old SR 160 used to push out a little over 11 horses and 13.4 Nm. There is likely to also be an SR 175 Race version that will have a slightly different CVT tune for quicker acceleration and a throatier exhaust note.
Another major update on the SR series of scooters is the inclusion of a new TFT screen. It looks to be the same unit as the one found on the Aprilia RS 457 and the Tuono 457, but with a different UI/UX treatment. What also remains to be seen is whether Aprilia will give smartphone connectivity to all trims of the SR 175 and SR 125 as standard or limit it to a few particular trims.
More details on the SR 175's underpinnings and features are likely to come soon, as Aprilia will officially launch the new SR scooters by mid-July.
