The launch of the urban scrambler is likely to take place next year
Husqvarna might not have had a brilliant start to its India journey with the 250s but the Swedish company might want to change fortunes soon with its 401s, starting with the Svartpilen 401. The urban scrambler was spotted on test alongside a KTM 250 Duke.
Given the feedback from Indian buyers, the Svartpilen has grown in size. It looks pretty substantial and grown-up. And thanks to the new trellis chassis and bolted-on subframe, the seating area also looks to be far more spacious and accommodating for riders of all sizes. It seems to be fairly upright with neatly positioned bars and slightly rear set footpegs.
This new Svartpilen 401 will be based on the new third-gen 390 Duke. Hence, the 399cc motor, underbelly exhaust, adjustable suspension and the offset mounted monoshock have been carried over. The bike was seen running on wire spoke rims and block pattern tyres, although with a tube inside them. We guess the India-spec bike would run on alloys, making it more convenient for our unpredictable roads.
Pricing for the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is going to be competitive as is the case with Bajaj-built products. We can expect this bike to slot in between the Triumph Speed 400 and the KTM 390 Duke, around Rs 2.85 lakh (ex-showroom). It will face some competition from the Triumph Scrambler 400X and the Yezdi Scrambler when it arrives on to the scene in early-2024.
