2024 also marks the return of the Chinese GP, which hasn’t been part of the season since 2020 when COVID struck the planet.
F1 has revealed the calendar for 2024, which will have a record 24 races. Interestingly, the first two races will take place on Saturdays to accommodate Ramadan, as the races will be in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. This comes after the precedent set for the inaugural Las Vegas GP in November.
There will be two triple headers next year, with one round being the American leg involving the US GP, Mexican GP and Brazilian GP. The other leg will include Las Vegas, then Qatar and finally the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
2024 also marks the return of the Chinese GP, which hasn’t been part of the season since 2020 when COVID struck the planet. The Chinese GP also returns as China is starting to loosen COVID-related restrictions in the country.
Both the 2021 and 2022 seasons were primed for 23-race seasons, which would also be a record, but for various reasons, like the Imola race cancellation due to floods this year and the cancellation of the Russian GP thanks to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, we have only witnessed 22-race seasons.
