The RB20 is a radical step on top of the record breaking RB19 despite lower wind tunnel time.

Red Bull has introduced the RB20, a successor to its groundbreaking RB19 that dominated the season in 2023 by winning 21 out of the 22 races. The 2024 Red Bull model has been conceived by the renowned F1 designer, Adrian Newey, who also serves as the chief technical officer for Red Bull racing. Interestingly, the car has incorporated certain features initially introduced by Mercedes in their 2022 and 2023 ground effect aerodynamics F1 cars, which were later discarded due to their lack of effectiveness in real-world situations.

Red Bull asserts that this is not merely an evolutionary step, but a revolutionary one. This significant design shift comes from the world champions who have excelled in the F1 ground effect aerodynamics era, securing Max Verstappen as a three-time world champion and Red Bull as seven-time constructors champions.

Red Bull has disclosed a side pod design that aligns with the now defunct zero pod design by Mercedes, which has since been discarded by the silver arrows. Interestingly, most of the new cars that have emerged appear to be inspired by the Red Bull RB19, but Red Bull has chosen a different path.

"There's remarkable innovation in the car. It will undoubtedly be examined in detail in the upcoming weeks," said Red Bull team leader Christian Horner during a media interaction.

"The team has demonstrated strong creativity, which is evident in some of the solutions they've developed. This is not a cautious evolution. The car features genuine innovation."

Many anticipate that the RB20 will once again dominate the field and maintain its position as the fastest car on the grid. Because of the dominance of the RB19, development for the RB20 started before any other car for the 2024 season.
